YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING...

  • What types of projects do you specialise in?
I specialise in interior design for period properties and country homes. These homes often have unique characteristics, and I love creating tailored solutions that maximise their charm while making them functional for modern family life. We also offer a Landscape Design service as part of KB Landscapes. kblandscapes.uk
  • Do you work with both residential and commercial spaces?
I focus primarily on residential design, working closely with homeowners to transform their spaces into beautiful and functional environments. However, I’m happy to discuss commercial projects if they align with my design approach.
  • How involved will I be in the design process?
My design approach is highly collaborative, and I love getting to know my clients to ensure I truly understand their needs and aspirations. You'll be involved throughout the process, from the initial consultation to the final details, to make sure everything is exactly as you envision.
  • Can you help with both large-scale renovations and smaller design tweaks?
Absolutely! Whether you're planning a large-scale renovation or need help with three or four rooms in your home, I’m here to offer solutions that make the most of your space. Sadly we no longer undertake single room projects.
  • What is your design process like?
The design process begins with understanding how your space needs to function, followed by thoughtful spatial planning. Once the layout is in place, we move on to refining the details, including lighting, finishes, furniture placement, and ensuring everything works together harmoniously. The process begins with an initial, no-obligation consultation where we walk through your property, discuss any problem areas, and explore ideas you have. You can share images, likes and dislikes—this helps open the conversation and allows me to better understand your needs. After this, I assess how many rooms need designing, what adjustments might be required to the floorplans, and provide an initial design fee that covers spatial planning drawings and moodboards indicating style, colour, finishes and fixtures. Once the design fee has been approved, I will revisit the space, carry out check measures, and issue you with a brief questionnaire before putting together a presentation. (usually allowing 6-8 weeks from consultation to design presentation)
  • Do you work with other contractors or tradespeople?
Yes, I have experience working with a wide range of trades and contractors, and I’m happy to co-ordinate with them to ensure the design is executed smoothly. Clear communication and collaboration are key to successful projects, and I pride myself on ensuring that every aspect of the build is in sync with the design vision.
  • What is your approach to designing for families with children?
As a mother myself, I understand the importance of designing homes that are both functional and comfortable for family life. I focus on creating spaces that support busy routines whilst still feeling warm, calm, and welcoming. Whether it’s durable finishes or thoughtful layouts, family-friendly design is always at the forefront.
  • Do you offer landscape design as well as interior design?
Yes, I offer both interior and landscape design services. Whether you need help designing the perfect garden, creating outdoor spaces for entertaining, or blending the landscape with the home’s architecture, I can provide comprehensive design services for both indoors and outdoors.
  • Do you help with furniture and decor selection?
Yes, part of my process includes selecting furniture, fabrics, finishes and decor that align with your vision and needs. I take great care in ensuring that everything complements the overall design, creating a cohesive, functional and beautiful space.
  • How much does it cost?
Costs vary from project to project, and we don’t have a fixed price. We evaluate the amount of work involved and allocate a rate of £60 per hour. As the project progresses, you may need additional drawings or plans (e.g., technical packs). Whenever possible, we aim to provide quotes in advance so you can plan accordingly.
  • Can you issue drawings to contractors?
Yes, we can! We work on a wide range of drawings for trades, including lighting and electrical plans, plumbing and bathroom layouts, carpentry drawings, decorating schedules, flooring schedules, underfloor heating layouts, tile layouts and many more. This ensures all aspects of your project are co-ordinated and executed seamlessly.
  • Do you design kitchens?
Yes, we do! We work closely with trusted partners, such as Roundhouse in Guildford and Thomas Ford in Ripley, to design beautiful, functional kitchens. We’re involved in the kitchen design process from start to finish, ensuring it integrates perfectly with the rest of the house. For smaller, back-of-house spaces, we collaborate with Howdens to create efficient and stylish designs.
  • Do you design bathrooms?
Yes, we design bathrooms and work with a number of bathroom designers and installation companies to ensure your bathroom is both beautiful and functional. We’re experienced in selecting fixtures, layouts and finishes that complement the overall design of your home.
  • What sets you apart from other interior designers?
What sets me apart is my practical approach to design, grounded in spatial planning and functionality. I’m passionate about getting to know my clients, and I focus on creating spaces that work for them—not just aesthetically, but in terms of day-to-day living. My experience with building works, collaboration with trades, and love for tackling design challenges ensures that every project runs smoothly from start to finish.
