WELCOME TO THE STUDIO

Hi there!
I’m Katherine Bedson, founder of Katherine Bedson Interior and Landscape Design, which I’ve proudly run since 2017. Based in the countryside and inspired by its charm, I specialise in working with period properties and country homes—spaces with character, history, and quirks that call for thoughtful, tailored solutions.
I love getting to know the people I work with, and I often form genuine friendships that last long after a project ends. By truly understanding my clients' needs, I’m able to balance their aspirations, Instagram ideas, and the practicalities of their wish list. My approach to design is grounded and practical—starting with how a space needs to function for the people living in it.
Spatial planning is where every project begins for me. I find great satisfaction in analysing layouts, rethinking room flows, and making subtle but impactful changes that completely transform how a home works. These decisions work hand in hand with furniture placement, lighting, storage, views, and finishes. I love how creative spatial layouts lead directly into the finer design details.
I bring a sound knowledge of building works and construction to every project. Having worked with many different trades over the years, I understand the importance of clear communication and collaboration. My relative working knowledge of each trade allows me to make informed, practical suggestions and ensures that creative ideas translate smoothly into real-world solutions.
As a mother, I instinctively design with family life in mind. Many of my clients have young children, so I understand how homes need to work hard—supporting busy routines while remaining warm, calm, and welcoming. I believe good design should always reflect real life, down to the smallest detail.
Whether I’m working on the floorplans of a historic cottage or refining the design of a country estate, I love finding creative solutions that make the most of every space. My goal is always to create homes that feel deeply personal, beautifully considered, and a joy to live in.
